Terms governing use of the VARISUM website, client engagements, and the VARISUM Accounting Alliance.
Last updated: January 2026
General Terms
1. Scope
These Terms govern use of the VARISUM website and, together with a signed engagement letter or proposal, client accounting services. Separate Accounting Alliance Terms below govern participation by accounting professionals and firms.
2. Client Services
Accounting services are provided pursuant to a written proposal or engagement letter that sets out scope, deliverables, and fees. VARISUM coordinates accounting and financial-operations services through its platform and independent professionals.
3. Regulated Services
Tax preparation, filing, statutory audit, and other regulated tax or accounting services are provided only where VARISUM or the participating professional is appropriately qualified or authorized in the relevant jurisdiction. Where required, VARISUM coordinates with qualified local professionals. Nothing on this website constitutes tax, legal, or audit advice.
4. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VARISUM is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the website or coordination of third-party professional services. Client engagements are governed by the liability terms in the applicable engagement letter.

5. Alliance Authorization
VARISUM Authorized status is granted upon payment of the applicable annual authorization fee ($250 USD/year unless otherwise stated), submission of accurate professional information, and successful credential verification.
6. Annual Renewal
Authorization is valid for twelve months from the date of activation and must be renewed annually. Authorization that is not renewed becomes Inactive and the associated profile is removed from public directories.
7. Credential Verification
Professionals and firms must provide accurate, current, and verifiable credential information. VARISUM may suspend or revoke authorization if credentials cannot be verified or are found to be inaccurate.
8. Brand Use
Authorized professionals and firms may reference their VARISUM Authorized status and use approved VARISUM Accounting Alliance branding solely as permitted in Alliance brand guidelines. No other use of VARISUM trademarks is permitted without written consent.
9. Independent Status
Authorized professionals and firms are independent contractors or independent businesses. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship between VARISUM and any Authorized professional or firm. Firm employees are not VARISUM employees.
10. Professional Responsibility
Authorized professionals and firms remain solely and independently responsible for the accounting, tax, payroll, or other services they provide, and must hold all licenses, registrations, and authorizations required in their jurisdiction. VARISUM does not supervise the day-to-day delivery of services by Authorized professionals or firms.
11. No Guaranteed Work
Alliance participation does not guarantee client engagements, referrals, projects, or income of any kind. Eligibility for VARISUM client engagements is not a right of authorization.
12. Termination and Suspension
VARISUM may suspend or terminate authorization for breach of these Terms, the VARISUM Accounting Practice Standards, failure to maintain required credentials, or conduct that VARISUM reasonably believes harms clients, other Alliance participants, or the VARISUM brand. Authorized professionals and firms may terminate participation at any time by written notice.
